Cream Cheese Frosting
Servings 1 8 inch 2 layer cake
- 16 ounces regular cream cheese softened
- 8 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or pure vanilla extract
With the mixer on high speed, cream the cream cheese until soft and whipped with no lumps.
Turn the mixer speed down to low and SLOWLY add in powdered sugar a little at a time, beating to combine.
Add in vanilla bean paste and beat to combine.
Using only cream cheese rather than a combination of cream cheese and butter makes this frosting pretty soft and it doesn't pipe quite as nicely as this recipe that uses both. But the straight cream cheese recipe makes a much tangier frosting.
